I love the rice at thai restaurants, it smells so good! The rice they use at the thai place is Jasmine rice, right? If not, what is it? If it is, why when I make it at home (according to package directions), it doesn't smell or taste as good? Am I missing a secret ingredient or two?
How to make the best Jasmine (Thai) rice? YUM YUM!?
Try using a rice cooker. It cooks the rice under pressure. I have found this to be the easiest and best ways to cook it. My rice cooker is my favorite and most reliable kitchen appliance. And yes it is Jasmine rice and it is the only rice I like to eat.
2. It is different because you may get the old crop from last year rice. If want the new crop, go to the thai grocery and ask them. New crop is smell nice and softer.
3. With rice cooker you won't have any trouble with that (2 full cup of rice , or 2 same cup of water).
4. don't cook rice in microwave as it is not nice like you cook with rice cooker.
Reply:You just have to make sure that it is really Jasmine rice you got. And make sure not to put any seasoning while making it. I usually use a rice cooker and it comes out perfect. The restaurant use rice cooker too.
