I bought a 25lb bag for $19 at a Indian supermarket. When I got home my house mate balked at the price. I noticed in a traditional supermarket a similar bag of Jasmine for less although it said "with broken grains".
So did I pay too much?
Is there a noticeable difference between brands of jasmine?
Does broken grains have any effect on the taste or merely cosmetic?
Btw, I was going to buy Basmati but it was more than twice as expensive as the Jasmine.
What's the typical price for Jasmine rice?
6.78$
Reply:broken grains will not cook the rice the same, it will be mushier, it's best to get a high quality rice.
Reply:Jasmine is usually 15 to 25% more than regular rice of the same quantity.
