i have a plant which is a jasmine or a hunneysukle and it has berrys growing on it where it flowered and my mun asked her mum what does it mean and my grandma said


it means we are in for a bad winter is this true and if it is what would happen in this bad winter i think the plant is a jasmine im not sure its ethier a Jasmine or a honeysuckle

jasmine doesn't usually have berries.

Reply:its probably a jasmine has it dark green leaves yes your gran is wright it will be a bad winter nature puts the berries on because it knows its going to be a bad winter so that the birds has plenty of food to keep them going

Honeysuckle are very fragrant...Most jasmine are not as fragrant except for the Star Jasmine which is very fragrant.





No one can predict the weather....





However I will tend to believe your grandma and great grandma's prediction over any weathermans predictions.

Reply:It is generally said that when shrubs have masses of berries on them it means we are in for a hard winter. I've seen berries on Honeysuckles, but not on Jasmines, we are growing both.
Reply:Not sure that there is truth to the old wive's tale about winter, but I do know that both smell beautiful. I have jasmine growing in my garden (actually climbing a trellis).
Reply:NOt sure about jasmines but honeysuckle does grow round berries, your grandma of course is totally giving you bull. Plants grow fruits or berries to reproduce themselves, simply shows that the plant is healthy and doing well itself.

Reply:the fruit plants bear have zero implications, insights, or effect. on the weather. plants are reactionary. so they can tell you what the weather was like. but not what it will be. no reason to argue or point this out to your grandma though. just smile and nod and listen to her 'old wives tale'. half the time old remedies or answers really work the other half they dont but if you call them out or prove them wrong old people have a tendency to stop giving you their wisdom.

How can I halp my jasmine to climb up the columns on my porch w/out sliding to the ground?

Last year I planted three confederate jasmine plants in front of the columns on my back porch. The jasmine has grown profusely and is circling the columns, but unlike ivy, it doesn't have the little "suckers" to help it to cling to the smooth columns. Any advice to kep it growing up the length of the column instead of lying in a pile on the ground?

yes you can buy a trellis and and train it to climb the trellis
Reply:Jasmine is a twiner not a clinging type of vine. So you need to tie it in. You can use a soft string or even ladies tights cut into strips to tie it with. Hope this helps.
Reply:Try attaching bird netting to the post. This will not rust like metal or stain like copper but will give the plant something to cling to. This way, if you ever decide to change your plant, you can easily remove the mesh without too much damage to the post.
Reply:Jasmine requires copper wire to train onto a column. Get about a 10 foot piece and wind that around the column, then tie off the Jasmine and it will spread between winds. Be sure to use copper wire, not steel wire.

I have had it several times at Thai restaurants. They don't seem to be doing anything different or adding anything. It just seems that it's because it's jasmine rice.

I am a former chef and worked in the Far East, it is called that because of it floral Jasimine like aroma ( due to the fermentation process), like basmati it is a specialy cared for and treated rice, and I hate to burst the bubble of the one respondant as it is not short grain, it is a long grain style rice.





And like basmati it needs to be rinse and cooked slowly and allow to rest, for fluffy and non sticky rice, were the Japanese rice is short grained and there preference is for stickier rice and they do not rinse there rice except for sushi.

Kids need to be more educated about life in other countries. Most girls love Princess Jasmine from the princess collection, they have a lot of that merchandise. What if Disney made a show in which Princess Jasmine showed kids how's life in Middle Eastern countires, and teach them about their beliefs, people, and life. It would be great if American kids grew up knowing more about the world.

The problem is most children are schooled publicly, meaning they learn from government bias based text books. Most parents of public school children were also educated in the public school system where they teach you what is written in the book is fact. It isn't until later in college that you start to learn some truth, but often by then you have been so mis-lead and brain washed you no longer believe anything. It is very sad, that the public as a whole believes what one man says and takes it as written in stone and will back him without first doing research. I have family members who fought in this war and others that didn't find out the truth until after deployment. We unfortunately live in a country that makes people think we are above and beyond other and it is ok to judge and call others bad without first educating our selves on the subject. Yet in court you can not plead "ignorance" for committing a crime, but you wipe out an entire nation based on ignorance.
